TUTORIAL: (New Feature) Remove Surface in Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 4.0

Remove Surface is a new feature in Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 4.0. It is used to remove unwanted surfaces / solid in ProE part file including the imported part from IGES and STEP file.

This tutorial shows the steps on removing the rib in an imported igs file. Download the IGES file used in the following remove surface tutorial here (IGES file for ProE Remove Surface Tutorial).

1. Open the downloaded ribs_remove.igs file using the open icon. You will need to change the file type to IGES to the file selection

2. Select the boundary surface which you want to keep.

3. After that, activate the Edit > Remove Surface command from the top menu. The new remove surface dashboard appears.

4. Next, pick the surfaces which you want to remove. Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire light weight preview will help you to predict the end result.

5. The images below show the part with the completed remove surface feature. A remove surface feature will be added to the model tree after the completion.
