TIPS: Apply Shrinkage by Scaling in Pro/MOLD, Pro/ENGINEER

Version: ProE Wildfire, Wildfire2.0, Wildfire3.0

ProE Pro/MOLD Shrinkage dialog box

There are many options available in the Shrinkage by Scale dialog box. Among them, the most commonly used is the formula 1+S with Isotropic options. This article basically explains all the options in detail so that you are able to apply shrinkage in different conditions.

Formula

Formula you want to use to calculate shrinkage.
ProE Pro/MOLD Shrinkage formula 1+S or ProE Pro/MOLD Shrinkage formula 1/(1+S)

Coordinate System

The reference used for the shrinkage factor calculation in the model. Select a coordinate system in the model and the field will be filled up.

sotropic

ON >> same shrinkage ratio for the X, Y and Z directions.
OFF >> specify different shrinkage ratios for the X, Y and Z directions.

ProE Pro/MOLD Shrinkage - non isotropic

Forward References

ON >> Pro/ENGINEER changes the existing geometry and all the existing references continue to be a part of the model without creating a new geometry.

OFF >> Pro/ENGINEER creates new geometry for the part on with applying shrinkage to the dimensions.

Shrink Ratio
Place to input the Shrinkage ratio. For isotropic type, only 1 field is prompted. For non-isotropic, 3 fields (X, Y & Z) will be prompted.
