INFO: What is hidden config.pro options in Pro/ENGINEER?
From the name, we understand that these config.pro options are hidden. So, how can it “hidden” and why it is hidden?
To make these config.pro options hidden, PTC does not list them in the config.pro reference manual. Besides, you are not able to get them thru the find tool in config.pro options windows.
PTC makes these config.pro options hidden because they are basically codes in the alpha state. Hence, the hidden config.pro options is not recommended and also not supported by PTC. Don’t worry; using hidden config.pro options will not cause any data corruption. Worst case, it may cause some unexpected exit. If you faced the unexpected exit too frequent, delete the hidden config.pro options and Pro/ENGINEER should works fine.

TIPS: How to add rounds to all the sharp edges in Pro/ENGINEER
Version: Wildfire, Wildfire2.0, Wildfire3.0
Most of the time, product designer will need to apply rounds to all the edges using a single radius value. This is normally because of the design intent. Below are some brief examples when rounds need to be added to all edges.
Example1: Designer is modeling a toy for kids below 3 years old. Adding rounds with specific radius to all the edges is necessary due to the safety issue.
Example2: With the concept of Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA), a plastic part designer adds rounds to all the edges to reduce the tooling cost. Sharp convex edges in part will turn into concave edge in tooling. Fabricating tool with concave edge will need EDM process which will increase the cost.
By using the Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire default rounds tool, you may need to select all the edges one by one. A hidden config.pro options is created to enable all edges selection. |
